At the meeting, the artist presented unique photographs of outstanding architectural and painted monuments, the extraordinary nature of the Russian North, and the holy Mount Athos—some of which have already been lost to humanity. For over forty years, Valery has been compiling his “pilgrim’s album,” with the best photographs from it presented for analysis and discussion.
This inspiring event is meant to mark the beginning of a personal journey in photography or inspire a rethinking of familiar art. Perhaps it is here that we will feel our calling—to shoot authentically, to see deeper, to convey authenticity, and to save Christian monuments.
Valery Bliznyuk is an artist, icon painter, and photographer. His works are not merely beautiful shots, but a thoughtful gaze at the world, its historical heritage, spiritual tradition, and the culture of the Orthodox Church.
He has published eight photo albums and held more than thirty solo exhibitions in Moscow, as well as in Greece and Serbia.
We look forward to continuing this unique course in September! Stay tuned for announcements.
